In acknowledging the receipt of your letter

dated 13th. instant informing me that His Excellency the Go-

vernor has been pleased to appoint me to be *Special Engineer

for the Praya Reclamation Scheme* ,I have the honour to acquaint

you that I have much pleasure in accepting that appointment,

at the salary named in your letter on condition that the time

I am employed on these important works shall reckon for Pen-

sion in the usual way, and I beg you will be pleased to convey

to the Governor my most sincere thanks for the honour His Ex-

cellency has been pleased to confer upon me, and that it will

be my constant endeavour to see that these works are carried

out with despatch, in an efficient and workmanlike manner, a

when completed, I trust they will be to the entire satisfaction

of His Excellency the Governor.
